Old Castle Lachlan is about six miles south of the village of Strachur in Argyll, Scotland, on a single track road, the B8000, a turning off the A886. The journey out of the village takes you along the lochside, over farming uplands and through a lovely ancient wood of native beech, oak and ash to Strathlachlan Church.

Beyond the church, an avenue of magnificent lime trees, part of the designed landscape of the early 19^th century, heralds arrival at, first, Kilmorie Chapel, then Inver Cottage Restaurant. You can park at both locations for access to the Old Castle. Please be aware that the route to the Old Castle from the road is over rough ground that is sometimes boggy. You'll need suitable footwear. Access may be limited for people who have difficulty walking. Dogs must be kept under control.

You can come by sea too if you like – Lachlan Bay, towards the northern end of Loch Fyne, Scotland’s longest sea loch, offers safe anchorage and there are moorings and facilities for sailors at Inveraray, Otter Ferry, and Portavadie. For a scenic tour you could try a seaplane flight!
