Donations totalling £12,000 have kick-started the Old Castle Lachlan conservation project. A range of individuals, including clan members around the world, have generously contributed to the early stages of fund-raising. 'If we can persuade 1,000 people to donate £150 each, or the equivalent in other currencies, we will be well on the way to doing the essential emergency repairs,' said a spokesman for the Lachlan Trust.'This will stabilise the structure and buy time so we can find the full amount for the major scheme that is planned. It's important to stop the rate of decay the castle is suffering from, so even small amounts that contribute to the initial target are important and greatly appreciated'.
